To kick off the new year and enjoy this wonderfully spring-like weather, we’ve uploaded three new rock topos for you.

Martinswand – Karwendel, SauMei (6a+ / 8 pitches)

In 2024, Clemens Saurwein and Helmut Meier established a new multi-pitch route from the ground up, which explains its traditional protection style. A pleasant route offering a rewarding alternative when the other multi-pitch routes are crowded. The difficult sections can all be climbed A0 if needed.

Martinswand – Karwendel, Quatschkopp (6 / 5 pitches)

Between the “Botanik Grand Prix” and the “Westriss,” a few new multi-pitch routes are currently being developed. The first result is “Quatschkopp,” a pleasant, easy alternative to the other multi-pitch routes: gentle, well-protected climbing near the distinctive gully at the base of the large slab wall on the left side of Martinswand. It offers enjoyable climbing sections throughout, with the final pitch being the highlight in terms of beauty and difficulty.

Oberreintalschrofen – Sector Aperitivo (6a-7b / 6 routes)

Inspired by the new routes at Scharnitzspitze, a new sector has also been developed on the south face of the Oberreintalschrofen. Featuring steep wall and slab climbing on top-quality Wetterstein limestone, the routes are well-protected with bolts and equipped with chain anchors for rappelling. These features will undoubtedly make these routes popular soon and, like the Figaro sector, serve as worthwhile alternatives during uncertain weather or poor conditions on longer routes. The list of developers reads like a who’s who of the Innsbruck climbing scene: Fritz Huber, Chris Tollinger, Florian Leitgeb, Luis Knabl, and, of course, Thomas Schöpf, who kindly provided us with the route information.
