BlocMaster 2024: The Final of BlocTour and BlocSummer
15. July 2024The BlocMaster returned to Innsbruck in 2024 and was a remarkable event that thrilled the climbing community within and beyond Austria’s borders. A thrilling finale found its peak at the Climbing Center Innsbruck. The event included two major competitions, the BlocSummer and the BlocTour, with over 5000 climbers participating. Here is a detailed look at the BlocTour, BlocSummer, and BlocMaster highlights.
BlocSummer
The BlocSummer competition was the first phase of the tour, attracting a large number of enthusiastic climbers from all eastern regions of Austria. The event covered 6 regions ★, 18 climbing gyms ★, and 540 boulders ★ over a period of 5 weeks. More information can be found on BlocSummer.
Bloc Tour
Running parallel to BlocSummer, the BlocTour continued the momentum in the western part of Austria and surrounding regions. From March 20 to May 1, 2024, participants competed in 5 international regions, in 24 gyms on 820 boulders over a period of 6 weeks. More information about the tour can be found on BlocTour.
BlocMaster Finals in Innsbruck
The best climbers and regional winners from BlocSummer and BlocTour gathered at the Climbing Center Innsbruck for the final showdown – the BlocMaster competition.
For the first time, a nationwide amateur competition was held, and it was fantastic. 55 women and 55 men from all Austrian states, as well as from South Tyrol, the Lake Constance area, and eastern Switzerland, advanced to the BlocMaster semifinals to climb 15 boulders in jam mode. After two hours, the top five finalists were determined. These climbers then competed in the World Cup format on four boulders in the finals to determine the winners. In the men’s category, Dai Hasegawa from the eastern Switzerland region won, ahead of Roman Neuwirth and Clemens Tritthart. In the women’s category, Klara Jovan narrowly won ahead of Natalie Aiblinger and Rita Oltramari.

The kids also had a great competition, bouldering all day in the U10, U12, U14, and U16 categories. The overall atmosphere was excellent, and the weather cooperated perfectly. The Lead World Cup final rounded off the fantastic day. We hope to offer this great event annually.
